El bodorriu - Häät

Last Friday Auro & Rá got married in Xixón. With great pain at my heart I couldn't be there. Fortunately, Xixón's City House has free wi-fi and my friends squeezed a laptop to see the ceremony, saying hello to many friends and showing Eero a bit around. It was fun to see the whole thing from Finland, even being mentioned during the event and greeted by the marrying couple in the middle of the whole thing. Internet is definitely a wonderful invention. I know, it would have been nicer being actually there but it was immensely better than not being at all.

Esti vienres casáronse Auro y Rá. Con gran pena nun pude dir. Por suerte, l'ayntamientu Xixón tien wi-fi llibre y los amiguinos apañaronse pa meter un portátil. Fue mui divertíu y emocionante ver tola ceremonia dende Finlandia. Ramonín (el conceyal oficiante) mencionome durante la ceremonia y los novios saludaronnos mientres yos lleíen los votos. Pudimos saludar a munchos amiguinos y enseñar un poquitín a Eero. Internet ye un inventu de traca. Yá se que prestaría más tar ellí de verdá pero fue inmensamente meyor que nun tar de ninguna manera.

La Mar

Sorrounded by the Baltic Sea, this bit of stolen ocean turned into a big lake, I quite miss the Cantabrian Sea (Gulf of Biscay for others). The rough waves, salt, tides, sounds... But thanks to Jorge Chachero we (I) can enjoy my (our) so missed bit of nature. In the video appears the "España" beach located in the council of Villaviciosa, quite close to Xixón (Asturies)

Heinähattu ~ La Foli

One of my favourite bars in Xixón is "La Folixa". In Helsinki the bar "Heinähattu" (straw hat) has a similar feel although is punkier (good thing) than the Asturian one. See this post about the place. Below a photo of the pub in Xixón by Guerra

Sporting Xixón 2 - A.C. Milan 0

We also went to watch the friendly game between my football team (Sporting de "Gijón") against A.C. Milan. It was great fun and surprising result (2-0). We have to enjoy this year, while Sporting is at the very first division of "La Liga" after promoting last year

In between meals we had time to go to one of my favourite beaches close to Xixón, Serín's beach

You see few people because is a nudist beach. Usually the nicest ones

Llavandera

Not happy with feeding us at her place, Sonia took us eating to the cider brewery of Trabanco in Llavandera

Always ready for some action Susana and Balen joined to sample some food. Before eating we went to the peak Sol, where you have an excellent view of Xixón

In Llavandera there are gorgeous oaks. To have an idea of the size look at Anne standing by the tree

Cemeteries in Spain are quite different to Finland. Here, many of the people which has gone is in these "apartments"

Continuing with the last vacations in Asturies... After Uvieo we headed to Xixón and stayed in Sonia's place. She took extremely good care of us as usual. I was received with the TV on to watch the Spain vs. USA in Basket Olympics with some velvet crabs and Rioja wine as aperitif. Who can ask for more? not me. Thanks Sonia!!
Siguiendo coles últimes vacaciones n'Asturies... Dempués d'Uvieo tiramos pa Xixón y quedamos en casa Sonia. Como ye vezu cuidonos de maravilla. Recibiome cola tele puesta pa ver el baloncestu (España vs. USA), Rioja y unes andariques pa picar. Quién puede pedir más? Nun seré yo. Gracies Sonia!!

Celebrating Xixón's Promotion

This is taken from Juan Llaneza's blog. Xixón's football team (Sporting) is back in the top Spanish league. I celebrated having dinner with a couple of friends, Manolín and Xuanín. Both from Uvieo, Xixon's eternal rival. We went to the restaurant Tori, where this photo was taken. The world is so small that some other Asturians from Xixón and Uvieo in a business-trip showed up in the same restaurant in Helsinki. The reactions when they saw me wearing the Sporting's shirt were contrasted but all shocked. The guy from Uvieo felt like not even going to Finland he could escape Xixón's celebrations. As the French say in these occasions: désolé :)
