Eeron juhla - Espichona d'Eero

At last we celebrated the big cider party (and therefore the long silence in the blog). It was a wonderful experience, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks to all of you who made the effort to come, help in any way, thanks!! really unforgettable.
It is nice that the blog has been somehow unnecessary lately since most of the readers were here with us. Much better sharing common places and experiences live, rather than through the net. Also the Finns knew a bit more about messy (but fun) partying and Asturian cider drinking habits :)
Plenty of anecdotes raised from these days to fill many conversations and laugh for years to come: Airfrance managed to lose the luggage of all the visitors, late night adventures, many sauna visits, the lively Kallio, the lovely Finns...
I've made a gallery in Flickr about the party here, which I'll keep updating as I get new photos from people. To avoid embarrassing people publicly, only those listed as my friends in Flickr can access them. If you're not in my Flickr list and want to see the photos just let me know and I'll send a guest pass so you can see them. A special mention deserve Mari, Pau and Manu, without your selflessness and help this party wouldn't have been possible or, at the very least, it wouldn't have been perfect as it was. We have an endless gratitude to the three of you. Pau and Manu are especially brave leaving their love nest to the crazy (in a good way) Asturian crowd, which they didn't know. Even from Mozambique you were at the party with us and I believe you'll be always at the heart of our Asturian friends.

Por fin cellebramos l'espichona (por eso'l llargu silenciu nel blog). Fue una esperiencia maravillosa, gracies, gracies, gracies, gracies, gracies, gracies, gracies a toos los que ficisteis l'esfuerzu de venir, echasteis un gabitu... gracies! D'alguna forma'l blog fue innecesariu estos díes porque la mayoría los llectores taben equí compartiendo llugares y esperiencies de primera mano. Cuánto meyor ye disfrutar de l'amistá y Helsinki en vivo envede por internet. Amás la xente de Finlandia pasolu teta cola fiesta desordenada y divertía, y conociendo'l mundu la sidra Asturiana. N'estos díes surxieron anéctodes asgaya pa enllenar munches conversaciones nel futuru y echar unes buenes rises: cómo Airfrance se les apañó pa perder toles maletes d'Asturies, saunes de too tipu, la nueche, l'animada vida de Kallio, los/es cariñosos/es Fineses...
Fice una galería en Flickr equí, recoyiendo les fotos de la espicha que sacó la xente. Iré actualizándola en cuantes que me lleguen más fotos. Pa evitar que naide se sienta mal agusto por tener les fotos en público, solo los que ten na mio llista d'amigos en Flickr pueden veles. Agora que la mayoría sabeis d'Asturialainen Suomessa & family de primera mano, el blog garra otru sentíu. Yá nun ye namás una manera d'acercar el nuestru día a día a los que tais fuera, agora podeis rebuscar ente los posts vieyos y reconocer llugares y esperiencies. Prestaría si comentaseis no yá publicáu y qu'el blog tenga les vuestres esperiencies, un sentir de como ye esti país tan prestosu a través los vuestros güeyos. Mari, Manu y Pau merecen una mención especial. Ensin ellos esta fiesta nun saldría como salió: perfecta, igual hasta nun se llograba. Gracies pola vuestra actitú postiva y xenerosidá infinita. Especialmente admirable ye la valentía de Pau y Manu que dexaron el so ñerín d'amor a les hordes Asturianes. Aún desde Mozambique tuvisteis mui presentes na espicha y, pa mi idea, también quedais nel corazonín de tolos Asturianos que vinieron. Gracies!

El bodorriu - Häät

Last Friday Auro & Rá got married in Xixón. With great pain at my heart I couldn't be there. Fortunately, Xixón's City House has free wi-fi and my friends squeezed a laptop to see the ceremony, saying hello to many friends and showing Eero a bit around. It was fun to see the whole thing from Finland, even being mentioned during the event and greeted by the marrying couple in the middle of the whole thing. Internet is definitely a wonderful invention. I know, it would have been nicer being actually there but it was immensely better than not being at all.

Esti vienres casáronse Auro y Rá. Con gran pena nun pude dir. Por suerte, l'ayntamientu Xixón tien wi-fi llibre y los amiguinos apañaronse pa meter un portátil. Fue mui divertíu y emocionante ver tola ceremonia dende Finlandia. Ramonín (el conceyal oficiante) mencionome durante la ceremonia y los novios saludaronnos mientres yos lleíen los votos. Pudimos saludar a munchos amiguinos y enseñar un poquitín a Eero. Internet ye un inventu de traca. Yá se que prestaría más tar ellí de verdá pero fue inmensamente meyor que nun tar de ninguna manera.

Kiitos Cim! we received these splendid gifts of Cim from Florida. A self-made patchwork blanket, funny soft toy and natural sponges from the Gulf of Mexico. Eero is a very lucky man :)

Alcuentru fartocráticu Suomi+Asturies: el sitiu Suomi+Asturies ahmattikokoontumispaikka

Next August 22nd we'll celebrate a big party (1st Suomi-Asturies ahmattikokoontuminen) in Suvilahti at Café Aaltopelti. The place is a former industrial area now dedicated to cultural activities and workshops. There is also a space to paint graffities (bring you spray paint along). In addition to the usual suspects from Finland, many Asturian friends and cider will be there. Good food and music guaranteed. See you!!
El prósimu 22 d'agostu celebramos el primer alcuentru fartocráticu Suomi-Asturies (1. Suomi-Asturies ahmattikokoontuminen). Será nel antiguo polígono industrial de Suvilahti (agora dedicáu a actividaes culturales) nel Café Aaltopelti. Sidra, bona comida y meyor compañía d'Asturies y Finlandia garantizaes. Good news for my funky-party vein. The Tony Manero Foundation released their new album (read and listen). Making things even better my loved Javi drew a eight pages comic included in the CD. Money well spent!

The year opened with a beautiful sunny that so we had to take a walk around our place.

Then, to rest from the walk and digest all food and drinks from new year's eve, nothing better than swallowing a movie of people wrestling against giant crabs and chickens

Happy new year everyone! As usual we had two new year's entries (Finnish and Spanish times) we had the grapes with the bells and the whole deal. The evening was excellent since Sanna was visiting. More photos here

Töhöball

The pikkujoulu (pre-Christmas party) season is unstoppable. We had the second one and this time we (workmates) played some sports, had sauna, drinks... here some photos of the thing. We played "töhöball" which consists in playing football with these masks. It is difficult to see where the ball and you team mates are. This evens things up and it doesn't matter how skilled you're. Lots of fun! First pikkujoulu here
Nun hai quien pare la temporada de "pikkujoulu" (fiestes pre-navidá). Yá tuve'l segundu, y esta vez ficimos algo de deporte, sauna, privar... Xugamos a "töhöball" que consiste en xugar al fútbol llevando eses mázcares. Nun yes a ver peronde anda la bola nin los compañeros colo qu'el nivel ye mui igualáu y nun importa quien ye buenu o malu. First Pikkujoulu of the season

Last Saturday Mari arranged a delightful Pikkujoulu (small-Christmas party) at her place. Excellent food and better company. As second dish we had these delicious gilt-head breams bought at Töölön kala. Getting these tasteful non-Baltic fish in Helsinki is rare, so I strongly recommend this fish shop in Hakaniemenhalli
De segundu metímonos estes doraes al fornu que taben brutales. Nun ye común topar pexes d'agua salao en Helsinki, así que vos recomiendo pasar per Töölön kala en Hakaniemenhalli a pillales

As a perfect end Anne baked this heavenly Sacher chocolate cake, sluurp....

We went to the forest and picked lingonberries, chantarelles and hedgehog mushrooms
Tuvimos nel bosque pañando bayes y setes (rebozuelos, trompetes pegañoses y llengües de buey. Los boletos yá pasaron equí)

We dried this ones, the yellow chantarelles and the hedgehog mushrooms went straight to the pan
Secamos les trompetuques (Cantharellus lutescens; como les de la foto) pa tener pa l'inviernu y los rebozuelos (Cantharellus cibarius) y llengües de buey (Hydnum repandum) fueron directes pala sartén

Ciclo Folc de Cámara Ígor Medio

The chamber concerts of Asturian folk which take place yearly in Xixón are named from now on after our friend Ígor. He was organising these concerts and his commitment and usual contagious optimism resulted in the formation/consolidation of some of the most interesting groups in the Asturian folk scene (i.e. Tuenda). Below a video of Ígor Medio and Lisardo Prieto playing the song Ribeseya.
